Feedback from participants in the Nashville Workshop July 2003

Recieved Aug 14, 2003

FYI- got an email from Jerry Smith (a publisher who attended Play for Publishers) encouraging me to send songs.  Also, just got back from LA and rewrote/co-wrote the prayer, dustpan song with Phil Kimbrough (another writer who was at the workshop) and it came out pretty good!

In short, thanks again for providing me with access to these types of opportunities.
See you soon,
Jo

Barbara,
I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you again.  The workshop was an incredibly valuable experience for me both as a writer and a person.  You are providing a wonderful service to songwriters just getting their feet wet in the water that is Nashville.  I plan to start getting my but up there as much as I can and meeting some people.  Hope to see you soon.
Best,
Scott Stepakoff

Barbara:
Thanks for all your hard work and insights during the conference.  I really came back with a much tighter plan, both to further my writing and to interface with the industry.  Your efforts really made it a success and everyone seemed to have a great time in addition.
 Thanks again,
 Jo Clark

Hey Barbara!  I hope all is great with you!  I meant to write you days ago
and thank you for such an awesome weekend.  As I told you, I really haven't
made much progress on the playing for publishers thing--I haven't done much
at all to get myself out there. Going to your workshop was part of my
commitment to myself to try and change that and it was really great to put some
names with faces and make the connections.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for for making that happen! It was an amazing opportunity.
Take care.  I hope to see you soon!
Love,
Deanna Walker

Hey Barbara -

It's Chris Caminiti.  I just wanted to express my sincerest gratitude for all
that you did with your workshop and beyond.  I had heard a lot about you before
coming up there, and without sounding too extreme, you're quite an extraordinary
person.  I truly felt the care that you had for all of us up-and-coming-writers
while we were there.

Needless to say, I'm quite fired up about the trip.  I had already written five
new songs while I was up there (before the workshop) which was great in and
of itself.  Your workshop was truly the icing on the cake.  If nothing else,
I look forward to taking advantage of your song critiquing services when I can.
You deserve the support (and I'm going to post on your guest book as soon as
I have time...)  I got the most out of what you said more than any of the other
industry professionals.  I guess you speak as a writer, which means the most
to me.

Well, I will DEFINITELY be in touch.  Best of luck with all of your upcoming
workshops/projects.  Don't forget to invest in yourself, too!!!!!  You're awesome.
Sincerely,
Chris Caminiti

Barbara,
Just wanted to say thanks again for everything.  Besides the obvious stuff about getting a chance to meet with some of the Nashville 'players' (or in the south would you pronounce that 'pliers'?), I appreciate getting a chance to meet you.  In a world of jaded, whats-in-it-for-me people, you're an oasis.

If you need anything when you're in L.A., be sure to call me.  If you have the time, I'd love to take you to lunch.

I'm sure we'll be talking again soon.

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for what you do for songwriters and I had a blast last weekend. You are truly a special lady. You have an inspirational and giving spirit. I hope our paths cross again many times in the future.

Hi Barbara.

That was great  and you are great and it's a wonderful service. It's
especially good because you are so understanding, and because there are
TWO publishers plus you per song, so we can get the overlap of opinion
and the difference of opinion, which is so helpful in sorting out what
to do next with a given song.

As I mentioned, I especially benefited from hearing more about Nashville
protocols. You can count on me to respect your position with the
publishers. I'm going the thank you note route. I don't have much to say
to publishers anyway. I need 6 great, cut-able songs before I knock on
any doors.

Also, I see what you saw in each of us. It's so cool to observe (may I
get spiritual here?) God emerging in so many different ways in
individual people. I love that!

I love how you have carved out your niche in the music world, and I
respect your philosophy.
yours, melanie marcus

Hey Barbara,

Just wanted to thank you again for the opportunity to attend your workshop, and for believing in me as a writer.  I made new friends, began some new co-writing, heard great entertainment, absorbed valuable information, and wrote a new song.  What more could you ask for?
I will call in a couple of weeks to set up another consultation.

look forward to seeing you soon,
Todd Caudill
