JENNIFER JOHNSON Jennifer began writing songs back home in South Louisiana. When someone described to her what a song-plugger does, she thought to herself, “I can do that.” So she planned a trip to Nashville, called all the labels and talked her way into appointments, and then called all her songwriter friends and said “Get me some songs to pitch.” She got songs placed on hold that first trip and realized that she had found her true calling.
After a year of plugging independently for top songwriters she became Creative Director of Midas Publishing where she scored many cuts including 2 chart topping singles “Everyday” and “The Noise” by contemporary Christian artist Jessie Daniels. Her next move was to Golden Vault/Super 98 which was the publishing arm of Big Machine.
In 2008 she formed her own company, The Song Factory, with partner Jim Kauffman. Their signings include Jon Pardi, Dustin Lynch, Burton Collins and Rob Crosby among others. In 2010 Song Factory enjoyed its first chart success with Steel Magnolia’s “Just By Being You” (B Cameron, P Conroy). In 2011 Song Factory saw Jon Pardi sign with Capitol Records Nashville and Dustin Lynch sign with Broken Bow Records. Dustin Lynch’s debut single “Cowboy’s And Angels” reached #2 on Billboard’s Country Songs chart and Jon Pardi’s debut single “Missin’ You Crazy” spent 35 weeks on Billboard’s Country Songs chart. Song Factory published ten songs on Dustin Lynch’s debut album release, which reached #1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart.
In 2013 Song Factory watched Dustin Lynch’s 2nd single “She Cranks My Tractor” and Jon Pardi’s 2nd single “Up All Night” climb the charts and this year they celebrated a #1 with Eric Paslay’s “Friday Night” co-written by Rob Crosby.
